Remote Sensing Devices

Remote sensing devices (RSDs) such as the Beam6x by Lumibird are a quick method of determining the wind characteristics of a potential wind project site without the need for an on-site Meteorological tower. Using a Beam6x LiDAR, paired with a Sentrex Power Supply, reliable meteorological data can be acquired.

Which RSD should you choose?

   Some things to consider:

  • User friendly installation

  • Dimensions of measurement device

  • Maintenance schedule and requirements

  • Amount of measurable heights/data

The Beam6x Windpower is a true push-button LiDAR designed for wind energy applications — from site assessment and power curve validation to turbine optimization.

With a measurement range up to 500 m, excellent data availability, and a compact, lightweight design, it delivers industry-leading performance thanks to Lumibird’s advanced laser technology and Halo Photonics’ precision data algorithms.

Its six-beam configuration — one laser sequentially switched between five oblique beams and a vertical beam — combined with up to 380 adjustable range gates, provides a complete picture of wind profiles and turbulence intensity across the full rotor height.

Built for reliability and ease of use, the Beam6x brings high-resolution wind data to any site, anywhere.
